Who We Are

Operation Pachamama is a nonprofit corporation organized under the laws of the State of Arizona. We have been granted 501(c)(3) status by the Internal Revenue Service.

What We Do

Operation Pachamama is focused on making a difference in the antipoaching effort in South Africa. We do this by providing scholarships and small stipends to well-trained local men and women to attend antipoaching ranger school.

Who Do We Work With

Operation Pachamama is thrilled to be working with the South African College of Tourism and the Southern Africa College of Wildlife. Both of these fully accredited schools were formed by and are operated under the auspices of the Peace Parks Foundation, a highly regarded international conservation organization co-founded by Nelson Mandela and Anton Rupert.

How Do We Do It

For the past ten years, The Tracker Academy, an entity operated under the auspices of the College of Tourism, has been training local Africans in the ancient art of wildlife tracking.

After this year-long course, some graduates are inclined to further their skills and seek employment in the antipoaching arena. That is where Operation Pachamama steps in, paying for the Ranger Course at the Wildlife College for up to six graduates of the Academy a year. Our current arrangement allows two Academy graduates to attend the Ranger School for the price of one.

Why We Do What We Do

Over 30,000 elephants are poached every year in Africa. In Kruger National Park in South Africa alone, three rhinoceros are poached every day.

Skilled antipoaching rangers, working in teams and using modern technologies, can and do bring a halt to this killing.

The jobs created for the locals also gives them a stake in conservation, making the wild animals of Africa worth more to their future alive - than dead.

What You Can Do

Every dollar (that’s right, 100%) raised by Operation Pachamama goes directly into the scholarship fund. There are no administrative costs paid from donated dollars. Any administrative expenses are paid by Operation Pachamama’s founders out of their own pocket. Every dollar you donate is 100% tax-deductible.

What Do We Need Today

Operation Pachamama is trying to build a solid base of supporters to ensure its long-term viability. We have formed a core group of early supporters named the Tusker’s Club and are seeking contributors willing to pledge $100 per year for five years. We need your help and commitment. Please support our effort to protect and preserve African wildlife.
